Gilded Ash
A wire-sculpted tree whose branches are both its structure and the wiring for its bulbs.

This is one of the first projects I not only designed the lighting for, but the structure as well. What I love most about this piece is the dual purpose of the wire as both structural and conductive to the bulbs.
To bring the project to a close I routed the tree’s wire through the base of a balsa wood platform that I previously stained naturally with coffee grounds. The tree’s “roots” give the illusion of digging into the wood of the base and allow for the wiring to be hidden from view.
